History

In 1927, Jimmi Eng and his young son, Paul, opened a small Chinese restaurant on the second floor of an old building at 304 Wall St., Kingston. Jimmi's dream was to establish a business that would make a good living for his children and their children in the future. Though Kingston, like the rest of the country was experiencing the effects of the Depression, Jimmi always prided himself in serving fresh foods at affordable prices. Eng's was Kingston's first Chinese Restaurant. In fact, during those early years there were few Chinese restaurants in upstate New York. Often, customers traveled from as far away as Albany to enjoy a meal prepared by the Eng family. The business prospered, and in 1955, Paul Eng moved it to 297 Wall Street, where the second floor provided more seating space. In 1966, Paul and his wife, May, decided it was time to expand again. The restaurant moved to its present location, 726 Broadway, Kingston, NY. For more than 68 years our goal has been to satisfy the needs of our customers.

Today, the Eng and Sit families proudly continue the tradition of three generations. The sights, the sounds, the aroma of authentically prepared Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine greet you at the restaurant door. Dine in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, ideal for the whole family. Eng's is one of the most reasonably priced Chinese restaurants in the area, well established and noted for its very fast service. General Tsao's Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and Cantonese Steak are some specialties at Eng's. An extensive take-out menu and delivery in the area is available.
